Music Lab is open to anyone aged 14 - 18 yrs with an enthusiasm for music and a creative mind.

COURSE TUTOR: WILL FRAMPTON

GUEST ARTIST: MIKE MOAST

SESSION FOCUS: Songwriting

In this session we will be focusing on musician collaboration through songwriting. Guitarist, songwriter and facilitator Mike Moast will show us the techniques he uses when writing songs as part of the folk band Common Ground. We will then create a band ourselves and write our first songs together. Bring an instrument and lots of creativity.

Music Lab is a creative space for 14–18-year-olds to experiment, collaborate, and push the boundaries of music-making. Whether you're into beats, samples, synths, or live instruments, this is your chance to try new things, learn new skills, and explore the possibilities of music technology.

Led by course tutor Will Frampton and joined by a rotating lineup of guest artists from the music industry, each session gives you the chance to create original music using a wide range of tools — from traditional instruments and voice to found sounds, apps, synths, loops, and DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations).

You’ll get hands-on with recording, editing, mixing, and sound design, blurring the lines between genres and discovering your own unique sound. You're also welcome to bring your own instrument or gear to plug into the mix.

Music Lab is free to attend and open to all skill levels. Just bring your curiosity, and let’s make some noise.

Yn y sesiwn hon byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar gerddorion yn cydweithio trwy gyfansoddi caneuon. Bydd y gitarydd, y cyfansoddwr caneuon a’r hwylusydd Mike Moast yn dangos i ni'r technegau y mae'n eu defnyddio wrth ysgrifennu caneuon fel rhan o'r band gwerin Common Ground. Byddwn wedyn yn creu band ein hunain ac yn ysgrifennu ein caneuon cyntaf gyda'n gilydd. Dewch ag offeryn a llawer o greadigrwydd gyda chi.
