Nigel Pantling National Poetry Month Event

Guest poet Nigel Pantling from the United Kingdom, joins us for a talk, reading and writing workshop in honor of National Poetry Month

Nigel joins us from the United Kingdom. He will be reading from his poetry collection: A Foreign Country (2025) and discussing his experience from poetry novice to published writer.

The last portion of the event will include an opportunity to write poetry with Nigel.

Nigel Pantling has been an officer in the Royal Artillery, Private Secretary to the Home Secretary, and an investment banker. For the last twenty-five years, he has advised company chief executives on strategy.

Nigel’s pamphlets Belfast Finds Log and Hip Hind Hook relate the danger and human frailty he saw as a soldier during Northern Ireland’s “Troubles” and in Germany during the Cold War.

He has published three full poetry collections. Kingdom Power Glory, lifted the lid on the secret worlds of Whitehall and The City, and in It’s Not Personal he wrote about the unpredictability of work, family, love and death.

Nigel’s most recent collection A Foreign Country was published in 2025 and takes us to strange places - the exotic, the imaginary and the rediscovered past - serving up a heady local brew, equal parts memory, invention, wit and menace.
