Safeguarding Children Training Course for Volunteers

Join us for our Safeguarding Children Training.

Creating a safe environment for children is everyone’s responsibility—especially those working or volunteering in roles where children rely on them for support, protection, and guidance. This practical and accessible training session gives volunteers the knowledge and confidence to recognise concerns, respond appropriately, and understand their vital role in safeguarding.

What the session covers:

• What safeguarding and child protection mean, and why the distinction matters

• Key legislation that guides safeguarding practice

• The evolving nature of child abuse, including online harm, exploitation, and contextual safeguarding

• Recognising the signs and indicators of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and neglect

• Understanding myths and misconceptions around abuse

• How to respond if a child discloses abuse—including what to do, what not to do, and how to record concerns

• How to identify safeguarding issues in real‑life scenarios

• The correct processes for reporting concerns, including when a professional may be involved

Who is it for?

Ideal for volunteers, support workers, youth leaders, community members, trustees, or anyone in a role where they come into contact with children or young people—whether occasionally or regularly.

No previous safeguarding training is required.
