Online event

Overview

This gentle, supportive webinar is designed for parent carers who are worried their child may be engaging in self-harming behaviours

We know how incredibly hard it can be when a child or young person is struggling with their mental health. More families are telling us that they are seeing signs of self-harm in their children, and this can feel frightening, confusing and overwhelming. You are not alone, and support is available.

We are pleased to offer a compassionate and reassuring online session:When Your Child Is Hurting: A Parent’s Guide to Self‑Harm

This gentle, supportive webinar is designed for parents and carers who are worried their child may be engaging in self-harming behaviours, or who want to feel more confident and informed about how to respond. The focus of the session is understanding, connection and practical guidance - never blame.

The session will be delivered by Nikki Webster, Mental Health Nurse and Therapist, who brings both professional and lived experience in supporting children and young people who are self-harming or have self-harmed in the past. Nikki creates a warm, non‑judgemental space where you can learn, reflect and ask questions safely.

During the session, we will explore:

  • Why some children and young people self-harm, and what this behaviour may be communicating
  • How to support your child with care, consistency and understanding
  • An introduction to self-harm reduction approaches focused on safety and emotional support
  • Practical steps for developing a safety plan together with your child
  • Where to go for further help and support
  • Space for gentle discussion around your concerns as a parent or carer

This session is not about quick fixes. It’s about helping you feel more equipped, more supported and less alone during what can be an incredibly worrying time.
