UWS SparkFest: Fun Science for Everyone
Join us at our Science Festival
The University’s School of Health and Life Sciences and School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences are hosting ‘UWS SparkFest: Fun Science for Everyone’ in June, for families and all members of the public. This event features a range of exciting activities related to scientific research and education.
This popular event, which is free to attend, is delivered by UWS as part of the celebratory 20-year anniversary of the overall Glasgow Science Festival and takes place at the UWS Lanarkshire Campus on Thursday 11th June between 4 and 7pm.
This exciting event will see visitors carry out activities with enthusiastic UWS staff and students and find out how science makes a difference in the world in forensics, Zoology, health, sport, engineering, urban development, biomedical science and much more. Guests can meet living animals; see a demonstration of the impacts of wave action on shores and buildings using a wave-tank, engage with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences mobile learning lab, learn how to spot birds, see inside their own blood vessels; find out how high they can jump; test their power, explore forensic techniques, explore cutting edge sports science using our extreme environments laboratory, learn CPR; listen to their own heart and breathing; make a lung, make a bath-bomb, create mega-bubbles and DNA bead bracelets and take part in a host of other exciting activities.
