Southampton Way replanting - Burgess Park entrance
Join our Bank Holiday Monday session to do some planting at the Southampton Way entrance .
Join our Southampton Way, Burgess Park entrance planting session Bank Holiday Monday 6 April 11.00am to 1.00pm.
We will provide gloves/tools, refreshments. The session will be led by FOBP.
Please wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather. Toilets and cafe a short walk away at the Clubhouse Cafe, by the tennis courts.
This volunteer session will be planting up the entrance way new bed with low level plants:
- Sarcococca confusa
- Senecio ‘Sunshine’
- Stachys byzantina
- Eryngium planum 'Blauer Zwerg'
Plus adding some extra shrubs: hazel, roses and shrub honeysuckle on the plot.
This planting is funded by Southwark Council's Biodiversity Fund as one site in the Southampton Way Nature Corridor. FOBP is also working with Southwark Council Parks to replant the entrance and along the pathway further into the park following the removal of Russian Vine along the side and rear of the salvage and carwash site which is designated as Metrololitan Open Land.
Across the wholesite we will be planting to support wildlife and increase diversity of planting. The Burgess Park Southampton Way entrance will have low level planting with seasonal interest.
