Drawing Club: Realism Workshop with Kristian Evju

Drawing Room explores ideas around contemporary drawing and makes them visible in the public domain. As the only public and non-profit gallery in the UK and Europe dedicated to contemporary drawing, Drawing Room provides a unique resource for the promotion of drawing, its practice, theory and methodology.

Join us in celebrating our 12th Drawing Biennial in 2026 by learning a new drawing skill with Biennial artist Kristian Evju.

Drawing Club is offered by Drawing Room and invites people for a workshop on realism in order to learn a new art practice and celebrate the 12th edition of our Drawing Biennial 2026. Join artist Kristian Evju to discover new techniques and insights into your drawing practice. Kristian Evju (b. 1980 Kongsberg, Norway) is a Norwegian artist based in London, UK, making exquisitely detailed pencil drawings and paintings. He received his BA (Hons) Painting and Drawing from Edinburgh College of Art in 2007, followed by a Masters degree in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art in 2011. Evju is best known for making enigmatic and unpredictable graphite drawings and paintings based on project-specific historical archives. By transporting historical individuals, objects and settings into new contexts, the artist liberates them from their assigned narrative, thus provoking discussion around the limitations of representation and also the cultural associations attached to certain types of imagery. The class will accommodate max. 20 people. It is not required that you bring any materials with you, but you are welcome to do so if you wish.
