A workshop to help demystify the publishing process
WORKSHOP
Put off by traipsing down the highly competitive traditional publishing route? Not sure self-publishing’s for you? Then how about a third way: the indie publishing way?
There are a multitude of small and indie presses across the world welcoming unagented submissions from writers without a following of millions. Question is, how do you go about finding these presses and getting a foot in the door?
Former small press publisher, Teika Marija Smits, will answer these questions and more in a workshop designed for those wanting to explore an alternative to the two main publishing pathways.
THE TUTOR
Teika is a freelance editor and the author of the short story collections Umbilical (NewCon Press), which was shortlisted for the 2024 Rubery Book Award, and Waterlore (Black Shuck Books), as well as the poetry pamphlet Russian Doll (Indigo Dreams Publishing). Most recently, she was the winner of the British Fantasy Society’s Sydney J. Bounds Award for Best Newcomer. A former award-winning publisher she is now Editor-at-Large at the independent publishing house Valley Press.
