Ikigai Masterclass: Purpose-Driven Leadership in the Age of AI

The reality is leadership today has become significantly more complex.

Leaders today aren’t just managing delivery. You’re expected to lead change, support wellbeing, create inclusive environments to keep up with rapidly evolving technology—all while still doing your core technical orr operational role.

On top of that, the way people learn and expect support from their leaders has changed. People want personalised, on-demand, and practical development—not just traditional training.

But the support for leaders hasn’t always kept pace with those expectations. And that’s created a gap. A gap that the go-to solution increasingly seems to be to type something into Copilot or ChatGPT.

We are seeing that gap create so many issues – burnout, mental health issues, reductions in confidence as a leader, stress, and in almost all cases a deep lack of fulfilment and satisfaction

So this workshop—and the tools we’ll explore are really about closing that gap in terms of you still having purpose and meaning and joy in your role as a leader

We are going to do that through the lens of a Japanese concept called Ikigai that helps people live their daily lives with purpose and meaning.

What Ikigai Really Means

Ikigai is an ancient Japanese philosophy often translated as “that which makes life worth living.”

It is not a productivity model or a career optimisation framework.

Instead, authentic Ikigai is deeply personal. It reflects the unique sources of meaning, contribution, and fulfilment that shape how we live and lead.

For leaders, understanding Ikigai can provide a powerful anchor — helping you stay connected to purpose, values, and human impact, even as the external environment evolves.

This masterclass draws on the work of Japanese psychiatrist Meiko Kamiya, whose research explored meaning, wellbeing, and how people experience purpose in everyday life.

What This Masterclass Is Like

This is a live, interactive online session designed specifically for leaders. The experience is:

  • engaging but calm
  • reflective but practical
  • supportive, respectful, and psychologically safe

Through a series of thoughtful and accessible exercises, you will be guided to:

  • explore what gives meaning and value to your leadership
  • reflect on purpose across the different roles you hold as a leader
  • reconnect with the human motivations that sit behind effective leadership
  • gain insight without judgement, pressure, or analysis

Participation is always your choice. You can contribute actively, reflect quietly, or simply listen.

Who This Is For

This masterclass is designed for leaders who want to lead with greater purpose and authenticity, particularly those who:

  • hold significant responsibility in their organisations
  • are navigating complexity, change, and technological transformation
  • want to remain grounded in values while leading in an AI-driven world
  • are curious about deeper purpose beyond performance metrics

You don’t need to be at a crisis point — just open to reflection.

What You’ll Take Away

Leaders often leave this masterclass with:

  • greater clarity about what truly drives their leadership
  • renewed connection to purpose and meaning in their role
  • insight into how to lead in a way that feels authentic and sustainable
  • a deeper understanding of the human dimension of leadership in a technological age

For many, the session does not provide a single answer — but opens a more meaningful conversation about how they want to lead.
