Overview

A celebration of the City’s trees is coming to the Culture Mile this spring.

📍 Meeting Point: Outside the gate to Postman’s Park, King Edward Street, opposite St Bartholomew Hospital, EC1A 7BT.

The walk begins with a nature-themed performance by Phoebe Coco in Postman’s Park. Nearest tube: St. Paul’s, or Barbican.

⌚ Please arrive 5 minutes before the start time as we will depart promptly at 12.15pm.

🏁 Final stop: Finsbury Circus Gardens, EC2M 7DT. Nearest tube: Moorgate.

🌳 The Square Mile is most often associated with finance, yet this historic setting is also home to an array of wonderful tree species, pocket parks and gardens. Through a combination of nature-themed walks, site-specific musical performance and singing workshops, the Tree Song Project invites you to discover, admire and be inspired by the variety of trees that provide shade, habitat, oxygen and beauty in the heart of the City.

🌲 This spring, guests will be guided on a journey through the green spaces of the Culture Mile, where we will hear stories of the City’s trees and the spaces they inhabit, and about their importance in a changing climate. We will admire some of the rare species, including the Handkerchief Tree in Postman’s Park and the Foxglove Tree near The Barber Surgeons’ Hall. On Monday 30 March we are hosting the first of two lunchtime singing workshops.

🤝 The Tree Song Project was conceived by eco artist Phoebe Coco. Phoebe is collaborating with City guide Sarah Williams-Robbins (aka Mrs Londoner) to bring this celebration of nature to the Culture Mile and invites City workers, as well as with visitors and residents, to join them. These Tree Song Project events offer an uplifting break from the office, workplace or home and aim to bring people together and to promote a greater interest in - and respect for - the important species and green havens in the historic Culture Mile neighbourhood.

📸 Please note, a photographer may be present throughout the walking tour: if you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know or inform the photographer during the event. Photos of the event may be used in our marketing and communications.
