Do you use any pre-recorded music?

No, everything we play is completely improvised. We are inspired by the map of the 5 rhythms brought to the world by Gabrielle Roth. We also bring a lot of other influences. Each session is unique and is shaped by the energy of the dancers and the musicians and the conversation happening between us

Is there guidance or is it completely free‑form?

Mark will lead a welcome circle and warm up and then the invitation is for you to be guided by the music, your body and your feelings and perhaps the other dancers in the space. The music will gradually build in energy and then gently descent into a relaxation space to rest and integrate.

Do I have to dance the whole time?

Accepted Answer

No, we have seats in the space and there is also room for you to lie down. Listen to what you need ;)

Question 4

What happens in a Live Rhythms session?

Accepted Answer

Session runs 6pm-8pm and people arrive from 5.45. Mark holds a welcome circle and offers words about the season, or an invitation to explore particular themes in the dance followed by a warm up  which leads straight into the live rhythms. We finish with relaxing sounds and a closing circle.
