Overview

Brought to you by The Farmer Scientist Network, an initiative of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.

This in-person event is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about sustainable farming practices and see first-hand the latest in cutting edge research.

The visit to the GWCT Allerton Project will provide a practical, research‑led insight into sustainable and profitable farming at one of the UK’s leading demonstration farms.

Based on a 320‑hectare commercial mixed farm in Leicestershire, the Allerton Project showcases how productive agriculture can work hand‑in‑hand with environmental improvement. The farm has been at the cutting edge of farming and land management research for over 30 years, with findings that now underpin many modern agri‑environment and stewardship schemes.

The Allerton Project is widely recognised as a blueprint for future rural landscapes, with its research influencing policy, stewardship design and practical farming decisions across the UK.
