Join us at The Gilded Acorn for a timely and thought-provoking evening with Tahir Amin, in conversation with Nick Dearden, discussing his powerful new book, Pharma Monopoly: The Battle for the Future of Medicines, co-authored with Rohit Malpani.Through a critical look at historical events and Amin’s and Malpani's personal experiences working in the access to medicines movement for over two decades, Pharma Monopoly traces how the ideology of neoliberalism pushed by western governments under the ruse of a ‘rules based order’ operated as a form of colonialism that shaped global trade and the modern pharmaceutical industry over the last 50 years. Offering a powerful call for a new movement for justice in global health, Pharma Monopoly challenges the dominant narratives of intellectual property, innovation and philanthropy that have created or reinforced inequities and injustices, while also providing a warning of what is to come with the emergence of AI in the field of medicines.This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Tahir Amin about the the human impact of inequitable access, and what a more just and sustainable future for medicine could look like.
