Sutton Walls Guided Walk & History Displays
Come and join us on a guided walk of the hillfort of Sutton Walls at 10.30am and then visit Sutton Village Hall to view the displays
Herefordshire Histories Festival – Displays on Sutton Walls and the Lost Houses of Sutton St Nicholas plus a Guided Walk around Sutton Walls on Sunday May 17th
Herefordshire Histories Festival is a county wide festival celebrating the extraordinary history of the County of Herefordshire. The Festival recognises that the County has many historic sites and stories which may not be celebrated enough. The Festival runs from 9th to the 23rd May.
As part of the Festival members of Sutton Walls Conservation Group will be leading a Guided Walk around Sutton Walls Hillfort at 10.30 am on Sunday 17th May. There will also be displays about Sutton Walls including information about the Woodland Management Plan which has now been approved by the Forestry Commission.
Sutton Environment and History Group will have a display about the Lost Houses of Sutton including.
These displays will be at Sutton St Nicholas Village Hall between 10am and 2pm on the 17th May. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
Numbers are limited to 20 on the walk. Booking is essential (see below).
The Walks will commence from Sutton St Michael Church HR1 3AY. The walk will take approximately one and half to two hours and is about 1.5 miles in length. NB Please make sure you go to the right church as there are two in Sutton St Nicholas.
Please be aware that this walk is NOT RECOMMENDED for anyone with mobility or respiratory issues. The route to Sutton Walls Hillfort is on an incline and uneven in parts. It can also be muddy and slippery.
Please note the walk is FREE but we are suggesting a cash donation of £5 to the Sutton Walls Conservation Group
