Space Park Conversations: Aerospace, Business and the Environment

Space Park LeicesterLeicester, England
Thursday 14 May  •  14 - 15
Overview

Discover how aerospace, education and business can come together to tackle environmental challenges and inspire the next generation.

How can your organisation play a meaningful role in protecting the environment while inspiring future talent?

Join us at Space Park Leicester for an engaging and thought-provoking talk exploring how business, aerospace and education can unite to create measurable environmental impact — locally and globally.

This special edition of the Space Park Conversations series features:

  • Chris Desai, Global Project Director of UOCEAN 2050 (pictured below)
  • Rob Barsby, display pilot with the internationally renowned Aerosparx team

Together, they will share the story behind two pioneering initiatives:

UOCEAN 2050

A global project tackling ocean plastics while bringing climate education and sustainability learning into schools, communities and businesses.

Heights of Possibility

An innovative programme combining aviation and conservation to inspire young people — particularly those from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds — to explore careers in STEM, aerospace and environmental protection.

Using eco-friendly gliders and motor-gliders, the initiative empowers young people to become “pilots for conservation” — contributing to environmental monitoring, wildlife surveys and ecosystem protection, while developing skills for future careers.

Why Attend?

This session is designed for businesses, educators and partners who want to move beyond conversation and into action.

You’ll discover:

  • Practical ways your organisation can support local environmental impact, including helping to remove plastic pollution from the River Soar
  • How to engage and inspire the next generation of talent
  • Opportunities to align your organisation with sustainability and purpose-driven initiatives
  • How to take part in a unique fundraising challenge, with the chance to win an eco-flight experience

Each participating organisation will be invited to raise £500, supporting UOCEAN Leicester’s local conservation work — with the opportunity to experience flight in an eco-friendly glider.
