Between Roots and New Ground: Photo Storytelling Workshop with Olga Vynnyk
Celebrate the migrant's path for Refugee Week with Olga Vynnyk. Learn key photographic skills and explore the emotional impact of migration.
Step into a unique, collaborative photography experience that blends storytelling, creativity, and visual exploration.
Inspired by “Transformation” - the short film about professional photographer, and Ukranian regugee, Olga Vynnyk - this immersive workshop invites participants to co-create a powerful photographic narrative titled “The Migrant’s Path”. Rather than working individually, attendees will come together to build a single, shared photo story—guided by emotion, imagination, and collective expression.
At the heart of the workshop is one central visual element: a plant. Acting as the main character, the plant becomes a symbol through which participants will explore themes of transition, search, growth, and belonging. Each participant will contribute to different stages of this evolving story, becoming part of a meaningful and interconnected creative process.
Throughout the session, you will be introduced to key photographic principles in a clear and accessible way, making this workshop ideal for beginners and those looking to refresh their creative practice. Topics include:
- Composition
- Working with light
- Colour and spatial awareness
- Visual storytelling
All materials will be provided, including specially prepared folders with printed resources. Participants will also be able to choose a plant to work with during the session—and take it home afterwards as a living reminder of the experience.
The workshop will culminate in the creation of a collaborative photo film, set to music and edited from the images captured during the session. This final piece will serve as a shared artistic outcome, bringing together everyone’s contributions into one cohesive visual story.
What you’ll take away:
- Your chosen plant
- Printed workshop materials
- A collaborative photo film created with fellow participants
Join us for an inspiring session where photography becomes a medium for connection, storytelling, and collective creativity.
