Carousel Printmaking Studio is an accessible community space providing opportunities for artists and the wider community to access quality printmaking equipment facilities and education. Though volunteer led we also offer work opportunities to local artists and educators through our programme of regular practical workshops.

Carousel Print Studio, Exchange Place Studios

This hands-on workshop will introduce you to the expressive and accessible process of silk screen monotype printing.Over three hours, participants will be guided through the fundamentals of working with a screen as a unique mark-making surface rather than a repeatable stencil. Using simple tools, drawing techniques, and a playful approach to ink, you’ll create one-off prints that capture gesture, atmosphere, and experimentation. Please be prepared to make some sketches. This session is ideal for painters and printmakers looking to express their work in a spontaneous way.

About the tutor Aprille has over 10 years of experience in teaching and delivering visual art workshops for all ages. Her classes are aimed at beginners and through her supportive approach, makes art accessible and inclusive for all. She specialises in relief printmaking, monoprint and monotype. Often working with mark-making, cardboard and other materials to create hybrid prints. What will I need to bring?All materials and equipment will be provided.You may want to bring any interesting objects or textures from home to press into the gelli plate (objects will get inky!).Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. No sandals, heels or open toed shoes. Aprons will be provided.You may want to bring a packed lunch and your own water bottle. Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided.

About Carousel Print StudioCarousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate. Carousel runs educational workshops in printmaking and opportunities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.Carousel's studio is located on the ground floor just to the left of reception. The doors are widened for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet.
