Have Your Say on SEND Reforms – Parent & Carer Online Feedback Session
We are inviting parents and carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to join an online feedback session to help shape our local SEND action plan. The government has recently published new SEND reforms, and councils must produce an action plan to share with the Department for Education (DfE). For the first year, the DfE has set a clear focus, and we want to make sure the voices of parents and carers are central to how we respond. The first‑year priorities focus on:
- Improving early support for children in everyday settings, such as early years, schools and colleges
- Making better use of Experts at Hand, so specialist advice reaches children and families sooner
- Strengthening how the council, health services, education settings and families work together
This session is your opportunity to:
- Tell us what you think should be prioritised in the first year
- Suggest practical ideas for how these priorities can work better for families
- Help shape the actions included in the plan before it is submitted
The session will be informal, supportive and interactive. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance – just bring your views and experiences. Your feedback will directly inform the SEND action plan and help shape future improvements. We truly value your time, insight and expertise as parents and carers, and we would really appreciate your input.
We hope to see you online soon!
