Shape Your History: Clay Chess Piece Making Inspired by the Lewis Chessmen
Inspired by the Fir-thàilisg Leòdhais (Lewis Chessmen) this workshop invites you to create a chess piece from air dry clay.
Part of Play Across Time: A Night of Scottish Game History
Open to all ages; children under 10 must be accompanied by a guardian
Inspired by the Fir-thàilisg Leòdhais - Lewis Chessmen - this workshop invites you to create a chess piece from air dry clay.
By taking part, you will learn more about how games respond and change to social, political, and historical factors. Chess has experienced many such changes, not only from its spread across the globe but from its many centuries of play.
No previous experience required. Useful clay sculpting techniques such as subtractive sculpting and scoring will be demonstrated as part of the workshop.
All materials will be provided, and participants can take their creations home with them.
