Overview

Learn the basics and gain practical skills to make your home's roof a force for good.

South East London Community Energy is teaming up with ECO Alex and Mike Wye Insulation, to bring you an introduction to installing loft insulation and green roofs.

You will learn:

👉 How to install loft insulation in your home and the different eco materials available

👉 How different green roof systems work and if they are appropriate to your home

👉Get hands on experience of working with natural insualtion materials (boards, batts) for your walls.

These workshops do not lead to professional qualifications, but are designed for educational purposes for :

👉competent DIYers

👉people who would like to gain practical understanding about how green roofs work

👉 people who would like to be able to have knowledgeable conversations with contractors.


How much do this workshop cost?

This session costs £15, but if:

🌱ECO Alex Alex Woodcraft – MD, Retrofit co-ordinator, green roof installer

Alex is one of the most experienced retrofit co-ordinators in the country and has installed hundreds of square meters of green roofs across London. Alex works with householders helping them improve their properties energy efficiency, reduce overheating and adding extra biodiversity around their homes.

He is leading Selce's Future Fit Homes retrofitting service to help local homeowners make their homes more energy efficient.

🌱Flavia Bertram cut her teeth developing the first multi-disciplianry green roof training programme in North America with Green Roofs For Healthy Cities in the early 2000s. A committed community educator, until 2025 she led Selce's outreach programme to empower SE London around energy consumption & production.


Selce's Summer of DIY is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.
