Introduction to Racial Justice
A course of 4 sessions
PLEASE NOTE – OUR SESSIONS ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WORKING IN CE SCHOOLS IN THE DIOCESE OF YORK. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ON IF YOU DO NOT, YOUR BOOKING WILL BE CANCELLED
We are piloting the National Society Introduction to Racial Justice course locally. The course contains six units, each with video input from the Curriculum and Inclusion team as the NSE alongside discussion and application in our online sessions together. The course also provides some recommended reading to enhance learning.
The course is ENTRY LEVEL and assumes no previous learning about racial justice. It aims to give an introduction to the topic, to support the implementation of 'Flourishing for All Part C: Preventing and Tackling Race-based Bullying' as well as developing school leader confidence in creating more inclusive school cultures.
Themes include:
- What underpins the need for Racial Justice?
- What is Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging & Justice?
- What are the barriers to Racial Justice?
- How can policy improve Racial Justice?
- How can curriculum improve Racial Justice?
- How can progress towards Racial Justice be measured?
The dates and times of all 4 sessions are;
Session 1 - Wednesday 7th October 2026 - 1.00 - 3.00pm
Session 2 - Thursday 5th November 2026 - 9.30 -11.30am
Session 3 - Tuesday 8th December 2026 - 9.30 - 11.30am
Session 4 - Wednesday 20th January 2027 - 1.00 - 3.00pm
Each session will be via Zoom.
Cost
This is free of charge.
Bookings will close on 2nd October. Booking on this session will book you on to all 4 sessions and a reminder with the Zoom link will be sent a couple of days before each session.
This course is only for those working in schools in the Diocese of York. If you make a booking but you do not work in any of them, your booking will be cancelled.
