Unlocking the Value of PGR Research: Introduction to IP & Commercialisation
This workshop offers an introduction to intellectual property (IP) and commercialisation within the context of research, helping you to understand IP ownership, how your research ideas can be developed into real‑world impact, and the implications for intellectual property. The session will introduce how IP is managed at the University and support PGRs to identify aspects of their own research or ideas that may be suitable for commercialisation. It will also outline the range of institutional support available in relation to IP and commercialisation.
Through discussion and practical examples, we will explore:
- Research pathways where commercialisation acts as a delivery vehicle for impact, demonstrating how research can move beyond academia to achieve societal, economic, or industrial benefit
- How engaging with commercialisation can support career development, highlighting the value of IP awareness and commercial engagement for careers both within academia and across industry and non-academic sectors
No prior knowledge of IP or commercialisation is required. Refreshments will be provided.
