Recognising Radicalisation: Understanding the Prevent Duty

Recognising Radicalisation: Understanding the Prevent Duty

Online event
Thursday 25 June  •  10 AM - 1 PM GMT+1
Overview

This session will be hosted by David Chadwick, The Prevent Guy.

About the trainer

Dave Chadwick has spent much of his career working in counter-terrorism. Through that work, he’s seen up close how radicalisation and serious violence can change lives forever, and the real impact it has on young people, families, and communities.

About the training

This online training session will help you understand the Prevent duty and how signs of radicalisation might present in your setting. We’ll explore what radicalisation can look like in practice and how people may begin to engage with or align themselves to extremist ideologies.

The session will cover different types of extremist groups, including how harmful ideas can spread through online spaces, and the subtle ways people may express support — such as specific language, symbols, emojis, or coded behaviour. You’ll also learn about how online communities can influence beliefs and why this can sometimes be difficult to spot.

By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident in recognising potential concerns, understanding when something doesn’t feel right, and knowing how to respond appropriately and safely.
