ELLIOTT ABRAMS is the former U.S. Special Representative for Iran and Venezuela, and former Deputy National Security Advisor under President George W. Bush. Abrams served in foreign policy positions positions under presidents Reagan, W. Bush, and Trump.

In 2023, Elliott was appointed by President Joe Biden to the non-partisan U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. He is a Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations.


DR MELANIE GARSON is an Associate Professor in International Security and Conflict Resolution. Dr. Garson is based in the Department of Political Science at University College London where she teaches her flagship course “From Cyberwarfare to Robots: The Future of Conflict in the Digital Age” that examines the nexus of disruptive tech and building defence and resilience. She also teaches courses on international negotiation and tech diplomacy, as well as problem-solving for policymaking at HM Treasury. Melanie previously served as Cyber and Tech Geopolitics Lead at the Tony Blair Institute.

Melanie presents regularly at international conferences globally on the implications of cyber, AI and emerging technologies on geopolitics, and foreign policy with a particular focus on the Middle East. Melanie also provides commentary in podcasts, webinars and at major media outlets including Bloomberg, BBC, Sky, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, France 24, and DeutscheWelle.
