Day 1 – Tuesday 9 June 2026 | OEUK Aberdeen

Setting the scene: the offshore energy mix and its regulatory foundations

Day 1 provides the essential grounding. Delegates will explore how the UK’s offshore energy sector has evolved and how different energy types coexist within the wider energy transition.

You’ll gain a clear overview of:

  • The energy transition and its impact on the UKCS
  • The full spectrum of offshore energy projects, including oil & gas, CCUS, hydrogen, offshore wind and interconnectors
  • The roles and responsibilities of offshore energy regulators
  • How offshore energy projects are licensed and governed
  • Joint ventures and governance structures that underpin multi-party projects

This day is ideal for building a shared baseline understanding, ensuring all delegates—legal, technical and commercial—start with the same strategic and regulatory context.

Day 2 – Wednesday 10 June 2026 | OEUK Aberdeen

Delivering offshore energy projects: legal risk, responsibility and compliance

Day 2 focuses on the legal frameworks that support delivery and operation, with an emphasis on managing risk across complex offshore projects and interfaces.

Sessions will examine:

  • Key project agreements and commonly used contract forms
  • Legal and practical interfaces between different offshore energy projects and technologies
  • Allocation of liabilities and use of indemnities
  • Environmental law and regulation, including climate change litigation risk
  • Health & safety obligations in the offshore environment

This day brings the law to life, showing how regulatory requirements translate into contractual structures and operational responsibilities across the offshore energy lifecycle.

Day 3 – Wednesday 23 September 2026 | Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen

Maturity, investment and end-of-life: advanced legal considerations

The final day addresses the financial, transactional and end-of-life issues that are increasingly critical as offshore projects mature and portfolios evolve.

Topics include:

  • Energy taxation and its impact on offshore projects
  • Project financing structures across the offshore energy mix
  • Mergers and acquisitions in the offshore energy sector
  • Decommissioning obligations and decommissioning security

Day 3 is designed to give delegates a rounded, lifecycle view of offshore energy projects, from early development through to decommissioning.

Why attend?

  • Gain a clear, joined-up understanding of offshore energy law and regulation
  • Understand how different offshore energy technologies fit together within the UKCS
  • Learn from a course designed to be accessible yet rigorous
  • Network with professionals across legal, commercial, project management and business development

All attendees at this 3-day training course are eligible for 25% off a ticket to the OEUK Legal Conference and Dinner that will take place on Thursday 24 September at Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen.
