Learn about REACTOR from Felicity Hammond and discover more about her artistic practice. Reactor is a new multimedia installation exploring the possibilities of the autonomous submarine. This exhibition marks a new collaboration with Hammond, following her 2017 Signal commission <a href="https://signalfilmandmedia.com/past-exhibitions-in-defence-of-industry/" title="https://signalfilmandmedia.com/past-exhibitions-in-defence-of-industry/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">In Defence of Industry</a>, which won the Lumen Award in 2018. Hammond’s return to Barrow-in-Furness, the heart of the UK’s submarine production, with a new multimedia installation that explores the mind of an autonomous submarine is both timely and provocative, interrogating the intersections of technology, autonomy and power. Felicity Hammond (Birmingham UK, 1988) works with installation, building fictional worlds and exploring the real-world impact and presence of digital systems and technologies. Hammond was the recipient of the Ampersand Photoworks fellowship (2023) and has exhibited her work at The Photographers’ Gallery, C/O Berlin, Fotomuseum Winterthur, VOX Centre de l’image Contemporaine Montreal and Transmediale/HKW, among others.
