Take the Scavenger Hunt Challenge looking for clues on the beach - with a BeachART challenge to finish!

Scavenger Hunt with Beach Art on the Thanet Coast

WHEN: 2pm, Tues 26 MAY 2026 - Margate Main Sands (CT9 1XN)

MEET: On the promenade, close to the Nayland Rock Shelter - to sign-in. (We will be going to the sandy beach below, next to the Margate Tidal Pool below).


Join the hunt looking for clues of our marine life and coastal environment from along the shore, looking out for shark and ray egg cases, on this activity that includes sand/beach art at the end.

These events are suitable for families and especially children aged 4-11. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout. This event is run with the help of volunteer Coastal Wardens.

What to Wear: You will need to wear suitable footwear and clothing for the beach, sand/beach art, and for the weather conditions on the day (such as - a raincoast if raining; windproof if windy; suncream if sunny).

Equipment: can provided by the Thanet Coast Project - although you are welcome to BRING YOUR OWN SPADES, as these are limited.


BOOKINGS - PLEASE NOTE : ONE BOOKING TICKET will cover UP TO 4 CHILDREN PER TICKET in a family, group or team.

DONATIONS: A suggested donation of £2.50 PER CHILD is welcome. You can donate for UP TO 4 CHILDREN on this family/group ticket booking. Please help contribute to the 'not-for-profit' Thanet Coast Project - by making a donation, or bring some spare change on the day (If you have more than 4 children, please make contact with us at: thanet.coast@thanet.gov.uk - to let us know)



If not walking or cycling, then getting there by other transport:

Cars: Parking is available in Dreamland car park (8 mins walk), Arlington House car park (3 mins), or Margate Station car park (3 mins) or from nearby streets

Bus routes: Its a 12 minute walk from Cecil Square, if using the Loop (bus).

Rail: Margate Railway Station is 3 minute walk away.
