Pop-up Choir Workshop for We Sing The River's Voice
Come and sing new songs inspired by the River Severn in this workshop leading to an outdoor performance beside the riverbank
If you love singing come and join this pop-up community choir for one day only as part of the CARP Bewdley River Festival 2026! Together we will learn songs inspired by the River Severn by Ivors award-winning composer Liz Dilnot Johnson with international bass singer Martin Robson.
After the workshop we will walk down to the Riverside Gardens to perform the songs (2-3pm) with a talented array of performers from Bewdley, Malvern and Birmingham.
The pop-up choir will learn three songs by Liz during the workshop:
- Let The Water Live!
- What Have We Lost? (tune: Danny Boy)
- What's in the Water?
There will also be an opportunity to experience some vocal improvisation with Ruana Xerri-West and spoken word with performance poet Sipho Eric Ndlovu.
The pop-up choir will learn the songs mainly by ear but there will be word sheets and music for everyone.
If you love to sing and you love the river, this event will be a unique opportunity to sing to the river outside with a wonderful group of performers from all generations!
Also performing will be:
- Young singers from the Academy of Vocal Music (Ex Cathedra)
- Young people from Bewdley Schools
- Vocal Improvisers from Malvern, led by Ruana Xerri-West
- Performance Poet Sipho Eric Ndlovu
