Voices of Home: Women and Everyday Life in Cypriot Culture

Voices of Home: Women and Everyday Life in Cypriot Culture

The Cyprus High Commission

Overview

Maria Christodoulou’s immersive installation explores home, memory and women’s voices in the diaspora.

Due to audience interest and the many messages received following the recent presentation of Voices of Home, we are pleased to open Cyprus House once again and create another opportunity for visitors to experience Maria Christodoulou’s immersive installation.

More than an exhibition, Voices of Home invites audiences into a sensory journey through memory, belonging, and domestic life. Through recordings of women and girls in their homes, the work reconstructs the atmosphere of a traditional Cypriot household in the diaspora and asks us to reflect on how identity travels across generations.

The project celebrates the home as a place where culture is preserved and reinvented where everyday acts become expressions of care, continuity, and resilience.

As part of THERE IS AN ISLAND III, this installation continues a broader conversation around women, everyday life, and Cyprus as a place of cultural connection between worlds.

Join us and experience a space where voices, memories, and shared histories come together.
