An interactive workshop exploring experiences of women from the Windrush Generation through Caribbean and Black British literature.

Join Denise Rawls for this two-hour interactive workshop and learn about some of the often-overlooked experiences of women from the Windrush Generation through Caribbean and Black British literature. Through guided readings, archival materials from Centerprise, visual media, and discussion, participants will engage with themes of migration, work, family, and identity in a welcoming and accessible space. Led by Black literature facilitator Denise Rawls, the workshop centres women’s voices and celebrates Hackney’s rich Caribbean literary and cultural history.  Denise is a proud Hackney resident, published fiction writer and educator with a degree in Black British Literature. She is particularly interested in how fiction documents and preserves the complexities of the Black British experience across generations.
