Genius? Madman? Saint? The story of Antoni Gaudí, internationally renowned visionary architect responsible for Barcelona's towering Sagrada Familia. The sell-out 2024 Fringe show written and directed by Stephen Callaghan returns with a revised version marking the centenary of Gaudi's death. As all eyes turn towards Barcelona for the completion of Gaudi's masterpiece and the case opens for Gaudi's canonisation, Callaghan heads a cast of three bringing to life the powerful and enigmatic events and characters surrounding God's Architect. ‘Acting is strong throughout... engrossing’ (AllEdinburghTheatre.com). Glasgow-based playwright and theatre-maker Stephen Callaghan has written extensively on faith-related subjects in new and challenging ways, often infused with the humour and style of his native city, His plays have been performed widely in local venues and schools around Scotland, including a commission from the Vatican for an International Conference held in Glasgow in 2022 and the acclaimed The Margaret Sinclair Story commissioned by the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016. He wrote and performed the hit solo shows Pilgrim of Hope (2025), The Pew With a View (2024 and 2018) and Oggie! Oggie! Oggie! (2023) He is the Creative Director of the Archdiocese of Glasgow Arts Project (AGAP).
