A PIP Bristol Illustrator Meetup & Relaxed Drawing Tour of the Historic Old City

Ever wanted to capture the charm of Bristol’s historic pubs and architecture? Join us for a laid-back, guided drawing walk with Bristol's favourite pub illustrator, Frank Morris!

Since 2023, Frank’s incredible pen-and-ink drawings have captured the heart of the city (and the attention of the BBC and Evening Standard). On this casual tour, he’ll share his secrets on perspective, rendering buildings, and sketching people on the fly—plus a few funny stories from his quest to document Bristol's best locals.

The Route & Plan:

11:00 AM – Kick-off: We will meet right outside the legendary Llandoger Trow on King Street. We’ll start our day drawing the incredible timber-framed exterior of the Llandoger Trow and its famous musical neighbour, The Old Duke.

12.30 - Lunch: Next, we’ll head over toward St Nicholas Market. We'll pause here for a lunch break—you can grab some delicious street food from the market stalls or feel free to bring your own packed lunch.

1.15-2:00 PM – Wrap Up: We’ll finish up our creative day drawing the brilliant, traditional storefront of Seamus O'Donnell's on St Nicholas Street, located right by the market entrance.

Bring: Your favourite sketchbook and pens/pencils, a lightweight stool/folding chair or something portable to sit on. And don't forget your sunscreen and a hat!

This meet-up is held by PIP, the Bristol meet-up for illustrators, in partnership with the Association of Illustrators (AOI), a non-profit organisation championing illustrators and the illustration industry.
