Serious Game Design for Heritage - Workshop 3 - ‘Playtest & Showcase’

Exeter Innovation HubExeter, England
Overview

Help us make disaster management fun.

It is not necessary to have attended a previous workshop to sign up to this workshop.

Project Overview

This project aims to develop a prototype interactive training tool—a “Serious Game”—to help embed emergency preparedness and disaster response in heritage organisations. Students from the University of Exeter's MA Interactive Storytelling Design will co‑design a simple, portable, “print‑and‑play” simulation based on real heritage risk‑management scenarios. Heritage organisations from will be invited to input into the design, feedback and play-testing of the tool through three workshops.

The aim is to fill a training gap by providing an accessible supplement to professional disaster-management training, while also supporting research into community‑led design and applied game development.

The project is facilitated by a team from the University of Exeter with support from Harwell Restoration, a leading UK archival disaster‑recovery company. Funded by Public Engagement with Research Funding.
