In this interactive workshop on Intellectual Property, you’ll learn the practical steps you need to take to own and defend new inventions, products and brands. Topics include all you need to know about patents, designs, trademarks and copyright.﻿ This workshop also covers the fundamentals of using the BIPC’s and your library’s resources to develop a strategic roadmap for your business. You will be introduced to concepts like the Value Proposition and to tools like the Business Model Canvas, to help you make informed business decisions, plan and offer value to your customer.'﻿Get Started':In this high energy and practical workshop, you will find out how to set up your business and avoid common start-up pitfalls. By the end of the day, you will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to complete a one page business plan.The project  is funded by the British Library, five participating London boroughs and generously supported by JPMorgan Chase & Co.

This workshop bridges the gap between knowing the tools and executing professional-grade design, saving participants, small businesses, and start-ups hours of frustration and trial and error. Who is it for?Everyone interested in starting with or improving their basic skills with Canva. Workshop overviewThis hands-on workshop is designed for beginners who want to unlock the power of visual communication without the steep learning curve of traditional design software. Participants will move from basic navigation to creating high-quality, brand-consistent assets. Learning ObjectivesBy the end of this session, attendees will be able to:<ul><li>Navigate the Canva Interface: Understand the dashboard, folders, and toolbars.</li><li>Design Fundamentals: Apply basic principles of typography, color theory, and layout.</li><li>Utilise Magic Studio: Leverage AI-powered tools (Magic Eraser, Magic Expand, and Text-to-Image).</li><li>Export &amp; Collaborate: Share designs for feedback or download them in the correct formats.</li></ul> Please note: by registering for this BIPC Lewisham event, you will be signing up for our monthly newsletter, which is the best way to keep up with local business events and opportunities.
