Bridgend Farmhouse (SC048396) have renovated an old farmhouse on Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh to create a community hub.After 8 years of organising, fundraising and planning, the farmhouse and new workshops have been open since Spring 2018.Our vision is for Bridgend Farmhouse to be a community-owned centre for learning, eating and exercise. Our goal is to help people live more healthily and happily, address social inequalities and isolation, strengthen community involvement and contribute to local health, learning and green space strategies.

Singing for adults, singing for kids, singing for all - whatever age and whatever experience.

Bridgend Farmhouse

A monthly themed Family Singing Session for adults, kids, and everyone - whatever age and whatever level of singing experience (including none!).This event is about community building through singing and connecting, and will be a very relaxed environment suitable for families and people of all ages. ScheduleArrive from 10.15am to get settled and a drink before starting at 10.30am.<ul><li>the first part of the event will be songs led by a song leader/facilitator, with some easy harmonies.</li><li>after a break there will then be space for anyone to share group songs with each other</li><li>there will be toys and an outdoor space for toddlers and children to play in</li><li>fruit will be provided during the break</li></ul> The SingingThe singing will be very relaxed - no sheet music or words to learn. Everything will be taught by ear - just listening and repeating back. And you definitely don’t need to have any singing experience to come. All voices are welcome! The SpaceThere’s space at the Bothy for kids to move around, come in and outside during the singing session, and adults may want to as well. We will work around busy wee ones and whatever parents need to look after them while singing. The aim is for a very relaxed, accommodating environment. Food and DrinksHot drinks are available to buy from the cafe from 10.15am, and the onsite farmhouse cafe will open for food from 11am-3.30pm. [Drinks can be brought into the Bothy if they are in a closed cup with a lid.] Future DatesWe are developing these new sessions together, and welcome ideas and input.Dates for the coming year are:<ul><li>June 21st</li><li>July 26th</li><li>August 23rd</li><li>September 20th</li><li>October 18th</li><li>November 22nd</li><li>December 13th </li></ul> TicketsTickets are on a donation basis. It’s important to us that they’re open and accessible to everyone, while still covering our costs (venue hire, facilitator’s fee, and snacks/fruit). Please choose the ticket that is affordable to you. If you cannot afford the suggested donations, just get in contact with us. All are welcome.Suggested donations per adult are:* £3-5 – Low income/Unwaged* £7-9 – Standard suggested donation* £9-11 – Supporter rate All donations are to cover venue hire, facilitator and fruit.Spaces are limited to 16 adults, not including children, so you will need to book in advance. All adults require tickets but children come free. Please just advise us of the number and age of children on the booking form.We look forward to singing with you. Getting to Bridgend Bridgend has lots of bike parking and is accessible by bus. If driving please park across the road at the entrance to Inch Park unless you are a blue badge holder, in which case you can park in the Farmhouse car park. Regular Lothian Bus routes: 24. 33. 38. 49. Our nearest bus stop is Craigmillar Cemetery and then a 5 minute walk.
