Overview

Join us for a four-session online course exploring how to see and sense landscape through shared attention and mapping practices.

Held fortnightly, these sessions explore deep, attentive relationships with landscape. Through walking, listening and sensory mapping, we will practise acts of witnessing and encounter with green environments. Together, we will ask how we come to know a place deeply, how we can understand its stories, acknowledging both abundance and absence, and how these stories might help us understand our own internal landscapes.

Led by artist Harri Harrison and hosted by IMT Gallery, the sessions include plant knowledge, drawing, writing, and observational exercises, alongside examples of how writers and artists have walked with and tended land. There will also be dedicated time to share and map your own landscapes. Between sessions, Harri will share creative prompts centred on walking, carrying, listening, and sensory exchange with place. You will be encouraged to record and develop an immersive relationship with a local green space. This place might be one you have yet to discover, or one you know but have overlooked: a humble tree pit, a hedgerow path, or a mountain trail. You will learn to time-travel with this land.
