Overview

This lecture critically appraises greenwashing as a dominant instrument of planning policy.

Urban greening, while globally fashionable, often serves as mere aesthetic camouflage for inadequate environmental protection. Through the lens of fluid dynamics, we expose the “Aerosol Trap,” where tree canopies can concentrate pollutants at the breathing zone, and confront the biodiversity blind spot that reduces nature to a tool for human aesthetics.

This lecture challenges the “Mother Nature” narrative, highlighting how the preservation of ecosystems, and their essential role in mental health, is lost amid the branding of green infrastructure.
