Doing film history is like being a detective in archives looking for clues and traces across films, photographs and documents. Archives also contain silences and absences, especially when looking beyond canons, into women’s film history or outside Euro-American contexts. The digital age has unlocked an abundance of new exciting materials. Has this helped cultural heritage projects and film history, or presented new challenges?
