Give your child a proper skill this summer — and an RYA certificate to show for it.

Our beginner courses follow the national RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, taught by enthusiastic, highly skilled instructors at the RYA Club of the Year 2024. Courses run every week of the summer holidays, and you don’t need to be a club member to book.

3 Day Stage 1 — £255 (Monday to Wednesday) — an introduction to the world of sailing: getting out on the water, taking control of the boat and sails, and building real confidence afloat.

5 Day Stages 1 & 2 — £325 (Monday to Friday) — the full beginner week, and just £70 more than the 3-day course. Most children finish able to take a boat out on sheltered water in light winds — genuinely sailing on their own. (Stage 2 is awarded on progress, so it depends on the individual child and the weather, but most get there.)

After the course, your child can take a 3 month temporary membership giving them boat hire and access to our weekly Youth & Junior groups — the ideal way to keep those new skills alive.

The details

Who: Ages 8–15 (16+ should book our adult courses). Children must be confident in deep water, but don’t need to be strong swimmers

When: courses start Monday 3rd August and Monday 10th August 2026 — 9.30am–4pm each day

Where: Draycote Water Sailing Club, Kites Hardwick, near Rugby, CV23 8AB

We provide: wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet, logbook and RYA certificate

You bring: swimwear, footwear that can get wet, towel, hat, sun cream and a packed lunch

Please arrive five minutes before the 9.30am start at the Waterside Reception, at the front of the Clubhouse. Changing rooms, showers and lockers are on site, with free parking for course families.
