An introduction to using AI responsibly in Human-Centred Design

Join us for an interactive talk where you will gain foundational knowledge on using AI responsibly in your design practice.

Human-Centred Design is all about creating products and services which take into account the holistic needs and experiences of human lives. When we introduce AI into this mix, practicing responsible AI use ensures these tools properly support, the complexities and nuances of human needs.

In the session, we will explore principles and practices of how to use AI in a safe, moral, and secure way, both as an individual designer and together in teams.

We will break down responsible AI practices into three phases:

1. Before using AI: including thinking for yourself offline, learning the basics of Generative AI, and connecting with people with expertise.
2. Whilst using AI: including choosing the right tools for your specific tasks, prompting guidance and the importance of continuing to engage with people.
3. After using AI: Including being transparent about your tool usage, reflecting on and measuring the actual benefits, and yes of course, actively engaging with real people!

Ultimately, you will leave this session with the confidence, principles, and practical frameworks you need to us AI in your design work responsibly.
