Summer Picnic Rides: To Craigmillar Castle & Craigmillar Castle Park

Join us for a safe, led family ride to Craigmillar Castle and Craigmillar Castle Park where we'll have a picnic. The park has a great playground for kids and also a forest area where they can play and build dens.

We'll start from Bingham Community Centre, which is close to Craigmillar and just up from Portobello.

The ride will use off-road cycle routes where possible. We will keep a very relaxed pace throughout. At a slow pace the ride there will take about about one hour and is around 12 km one way. We'll return by the same route.

Please bring your own picnic and dress appropriately for the weather.

Our ride leaders will lead the bike ride which will start from Porty bike library at 10.30am - please arrive promptly.

You can choose to hire one of our electric cargo bikes, which fits up to two children in the front or back depending on design, or come along on your own bikes. We also have a few ordinary electric bikes to hire.

Let us know in advance if you'd like to hire a bike, when you fill in the eventbrite form to sign up to the event. There are limited numbers of bikes for hire - first come first served. You will need to arrive early to try out the bike ahead of the ride.
