Overview of Course You will be shown how to collage fabric onto an already handmade base to create a landscape. Then learn how to create a cottage image over the landscape background that will have been created. Once landscape and cottage images have been completed, you will add further detail using appliqué and embellishment to finish the fabric art piece. What will I learn? During this workshop, you will be taught how to build fabric collage onto a ready-made base. You will be given a kit that will contain a ready-made base to work on various hand dyed fabrics, printed fabrics, template, reclaimed fabrics, netting, vintage lace, embroidery thread, handmade buttons and instruction book. Using the sewing machine, you will be taught how to free-style draw with the sewing machine and how to create a fabric collage with step-by-step instruction throughout the workshop. This workshop is a nice taster for people who would like to explore using their own sewing machine for a textile art projects.

Who is the course for? The workshop is great for beginners and intermediate sewers who use a sewing machine and who would like to try something new using textiles to create art. Will I have to provide anything?You will be provided with all materials needed to create the festive fabric art piece. You will need to bring some fabric scissors as well as your own sewing machine, making sure that the machine has an embroidery foot attachment as this will be needed to create free style sewing with the machine (you can find an embroidery foot for your machine by searching on Amazon, key in the make of the sewing machine adding embroidery foot at the end of the sentence. Most brands of sewing machine will have their own make of embroidery foot or come with the embroidery foot). Am I ready to start?By attending this workshop, you will learn some tips and tricks that are used to create fabric art. Come along and have a little crafty fun using your own sewing machine.
