Founded in 1870, the Arlington Baths Club is a Victorian swimming pool and Turkish bath in the heart of Glasgow.Owned and run by members, for members, on a not-for-profit basis, this community club is the oldest of its kind in the world.The Grade 'A' listed Victorian bathing complex was constructed in four phases over more than 30 years by eminent architects of the time and features an unusual and beautiful Turkish bath where members can soothe away aches, pains and the pressures of the day.Over 150 years ago, the founders of the Club achieved a relaxed combination of physical exercise and sociability which continues to be embraced and enjoyed by our members today.

The Arlington Baths Club

The Arlington Baths Club is the oldest member-run swimming pool in Europe.Our ‘A’ listed building houses a skylit swimming pool and a magnificent Turkish Bath. This Victorian bathing complex was constructed in several phases from 1870 to 1905, with many more changes inside the building since then.Since opening in 1871 we’ve been a home-from-home for thousands of Glasgow men, women and children who have come to the Baths to swim, exercise and relax. Hear a wealth of stories about our history and our past members – people who made Glasgow!Further details:<ul><li>Our building tour is over 2 levels and sadly does not have a lift.</li><li>To enter the building, there is a short set of steps from the street and during the tour there are 2 stairways to negogiate, one up and one down.</li><li>Tours will be led by volunteer member guides and concentrate on the history of the club and how our members use the club today. Tours will last approximately 30 minutes.</li><li>There are restrictions in the taking of photographs in some areas and some rooms in the building will be out of bounds due to members changing. Please ask the guide before taking photographs.</li><li>Please note this is a tour of the building and not an opportunity to use the facilities.</li></ul>
