Gongbath at Southsea Castle

Ancient Sacred Sounds

A rare and unique opportunity to experience the sounds of the gongs within the keep at Southsea Castle.

Southsea Castle

This sound meditation session provides a rare opportunity to combine the powerful acoustics of the castle keep with the deep and therapeutic sounds of the gongs. The curved roof and thick walls of the keep enables the sounds to move around the space in a unique way to create an incredible soundscape to enhance the effects and provide a deep and immersive experience with the gongs.Connecting this important historic building with sound enables a powerful dialogue between the mind and body and the fabric of this stunning location, allowing a perfect synergy between history and the present moment. The session will take place inside the building on the first floor of the castle keep. There will be 2 short flights of steps up to the room. Sound and well-beingIts important to make time for ourselves, and to look after our wellbeing. These sessions use a range of large gongs, played in a gentle and sensitive manner to help achieve a deep sense of relaxation and meditation which can help to restore the mind and body back to equilibrium. What to expectYou will rest comfortably on the floor and listen to the sounds. You are not expected to do anything physically active. The session is aimed at relaxation and rest. Participants normally stay awake but reach a deep dreamlike state which can be extremely therapeutic for both the mind and body.No previous experience is needed, and all will be explained before the session. What to bringPlease bring a mat (yoga mat/camping mat etc), one or two blankets, a pillow, eye covering and a bottle of water.I do have spare mats available if requested in advance.
