Be well in the wilderness - part 2

Be well in the wilderness - part 2

Overview

Foraging, fire cider and campfire cooking - the Wellderness survival series, stage 2

Join us in the Wellderness Woods this autumn, and learn some essential skills for being well in the wilderness.

Part two of the Wellderness survival series takes place in mid-October, as the leaves start to lose their green. Here, we'll turn our thoughts to cuisine, with foraging skills and campfire cooking. Then, with the first hints of winter creeping in, we'll meet in late November for map reading, orienteering and a 5k hike around the woods.

Each session is priced at £15. These events are strictly for over-16-year olds. Anyone below 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Foraging, fire cider and campfire cookery

With fire, water and shelter secured, your next priority is food.

In this session, we have a foraging expert to lead us through nature's larder. You'll witness how a hot, dry summer has affected the woodland. Taking an ecological stance, you'll learn the importance of picking only what you need. Plus, with colder weather on its way, you'll learn how to make your own fire cider - a natural elixir that boosts the immune system and helps keep the winter viruses at bay.

All of this will be accompanied by the tantalising scents of the 'world famous' Wellderness stew. Cooked over the campfire, this delicious gluten-free, vegan stew will leave you feeling nourished, inside and out.

Tickets are limited to 20 people for each date. Only available via Eventbrite, they cost £15 per person per session.

In the Wellderness Woods, the tracks are bumpy and not easy to access for anybody with mobility issues. If you're unsure whether it's suitable for you, please get in touch before booking.

Car parking is limited, so please car share where possible. We'll send you the precise location details ahead of the session.

We haven't yet figured out how best to get there on public transport. It is doable - as we discovered from some intrepid Wellderfolk who braved the buses and trains for our first session. From what we know, it's not straightforward.
