Signed to Gondwana, the mighty, expansive, earthy, cosmic jazz band Ancient Infinity Orchestra have community at the heart of everything they do, and felt to us like the perfect choice for this year's Mercury Prize Fringe Newcastle celebrations supported by Newcastle City Council and Generator.

Ancient Infinity Orchestra is a gathering of voices, traditions, and energies converging into something timeless. Their music is a journey inward and outward, always reaching toward the universal. Hailing from Leeds, the 16-member ensemble is led by double bassist and composer Ozzy Moysey, with a distinctive line-up of two double basses, harp, saxophones, clarinets, violin, viola, cello, oboe, flutes, mandolin, congas, piano, drum kit, with bells, shakers and other percussion instruments scattered on the floor, ready for members to use whenever the spirit takes them.Support from Cobalt resident Weston on the decks with a jazz-inspired set.
