Teach Autistic Students Well: Practical Strategies That Build Belonging

Teach Autistic Students Well: Practical Strategies That Build Belonging

Online event
Overview

Build belonging for autistic students with clearer communication, flexible learning and practical classroom support.

Learning is not made inclusive by assigning people a fixed “style.” This session looks at what research and lived experience suggest about clearer, more flexible learning design.

You will leave with a practical toolkit for designing learning that is clearer, more flexible and more effective.

Who it’s for

Designed for educators, trainers and learning professionals, with neurodivergent learners and supporters welcome. No diagnosis or prior specialist knowledge is needed.

What you’ll explore

  • How attention, memory, sensory processing and communication can affect learning
  • Which popular learning claims are unsupported or too simplistic
  • How clarity, choice, pacing and multiple ways to engage can reduce barriers
  • Practical changes educators, trainers and learners can use immediately

How the session works

Explore research and lived experience through anonymous polls, short games, realistic scenarios and optional reflection. Participate by voice, chat or polls, or simply listen. There is no cold-calling and cameras are optional.

ACCESSIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION

Live automated captions are available. Cameras and microphones are optional. You can participate by voice, chat, anonymous Mentimeter activities or quiet reflection, and you may pass, pause or step away at any time. To discuss another access need, use Eventbrite’s Contact the organiser option. Please do not include private medical information in public questions.
