DoLS Authorisers — after AGNI

This interactive half-day course is for DoLS authorisers and signatories responsible for granting standard authorisations. We will consider AGNI [2026] UKSC 16 and what the multifactorial approach means when scrutinising assessments and making authorisation decisions.

The course runs on Zoom from 9.30am to 1pm, UK time, with a break. Each ticket costs £100 plus VAT (£120 including VAT). Organisations can arrange group places and an invoice by emailing training@lpslaw.co.uk.

Course content

• The statutory safeguards after AGNI.

• Scrutinising the qualifying requirements, including BIA conclusions that there is no deprivation of liberty (Form 3A).

• Deciding not to grant an authorisation and recording the decision (Form 6).

• Conditions, recommendations and monitoring.

• Section 21A challenges and the Mental Health Act 1983 interface.
