DoLS Mental Health Assessors Refresher Course

This half-day online refresher is for DoLS mental health assessors, including section 12 doctors and psychiatrists. It covers AGNI [2026] UKSC 16 and relevant developments in capacity, eligibility and the DoLS/Mental Health Act interface.

The course runs on Zoom from 9.30am to 1pm, UK time, with a break. Each ticket costs £62.50 plus VAT (£75 including VAT). Organisations can arrange group places and an invoice by emailing training@lpslaw.co.uk.

Course content

• AGNI and its implications for the mental health assessor role, including the distinction between mental capacity under the MCA and valid consent for Article 5 purposes.

• Relevant Court of Protection case law on capacity and eligibility.

• What good forms 4 and 4B look like.

• The use of equivalent assessments.

• The DoLS/MHA interface in hospitals and the community.
