Digging The Dyke: Glasgow's Radical Archaeology

Over Glasgow Doors Open Day Festival we’ll be excavating and recording the remains of one of Glasgow’s least well-known stories of popular uprising - Harvie’s Dyke. Drop in to meet the archaeologists or join us for free walks, talks and tours.

Join Ingrid Shearer of Glasgow Building Preservation Trust for a fascinating ramble along the banks of the Clyde. Explore the many ways the Clyde and its banks have shaped the history of Glasgow’s east end – find out what links Dalmarnock with America’s wild west, hear about a ‘wide as the Clyde’ whisky magnate and his futile attempt to take on the people of the east end. Along the way, hear stories of the people, places and industries that have defined this part of Glasgow, and find out how our great river is now recovering from decades of neglect.
